Steve “Red” Ketchup is an FBI agent who can’t die.
I fucking love him, he reminds me so much of Archer. In the first episode he realizes there’s no way to disarm this nuclear bomb, so he drives away with it as far away as possible from civilization to protect people.
Of course, since he can’t die, the nuclear bomb does nothing to him. The FBI retrieve his intact body and he seems to be in a coma, but turns out he was just taking a nap.
His arch enemy is Dr K, Russian scientist who created Red and is keen on creating more of him. He has a blow up doll for a wife…Well, it actually is his wife. You see, her spirit went out of her body when she died and into the doll.
Red can come off as quite an asshole, though unlike Archer he isn’t a womanizer. His father abused him, his sister and his mother since a young age. He’d put Red on the train tracks, in front of an incoming train, and told him not to move until he says so.
He would never say to move, basically wanting to get Red killed, but Red would always obviously cower and move out of the path of the incoming train before he got hit. His dad hated this, thought it made Red a pussy.
The series is based on a comic by some Canadians, one of whom unfortunately died back in 2022. An episode is dedicated to him.
I really loved the series, I kinda wanna write my thoughts episode by episode as I love it so much, but I’ll wait for a season 2 to hopefully drop.
It’s quite depressing when you find a 1-season-wonder and it never gets picked back up for a second season. Inside Job is a great example.
There’s also something to say about series being ended prematurely like Final Space or Bojack, but that’s for another post.
